Merrie came to Asheville in 2001 after finishing a bachelor’s in English from Appalachian State University. Grew up mostly in Charlotte, NC. Decided to expand her creative skill set and went to cosmetology school in 2007. Apprenticed at ananda before graduating and a few months then after. She actually was a long time client of ananda’s before going to cosm. school. “I sought out to work at ananda because I knew I would be learning from the best!”
She cherishes her clients and works hard to build real relationships with them – even if the dynamic calls for saying little to nothing and having the art process be the connecting factor.
Merrie really enjoys taking time for the process. “I kind of feel like if you neglect too much of the process, then the end result is a bit empty, no matter how good it looks…” She enjoys natural to fashion forward looks, which she feels can sometimes be one in the same. Merrie especially enjoys creating hair designs for weddings, fashion-shows, etc..
Merrie both loves and appreciates music, art, history, language, culture. She has traveled around much of Europe, but has never seen the West Coast. She has been married for 5 years and loves hanging with her fabulous husband Stuart, and their pride and joy – young son Edgar.
